apSEO Getting Started

This guide takes a new WordPress installation from purchase to a verified first audit.

1. Download apSEO

Download the current ZIP immediately after checkout, from your order email, or from My Account.

2. Install and activate

1. Open WordPress Admin → Plugins → Add New Plugin.
2. Choose Upload Plugin and select the apSEO ZIP.
3. Install and activate apSEO.

Activation opens apSEO → Setup Guide.

3. Activate the license

1. Open Tools → apSEO License.
2. Paste the license key from checkout or your purchase email.
3. Save and activate the key.

4. Confirm publication identity

In the Setup Guide, confirm the public name, publisher organization, publisher description, logo, and Google News name. Enable News publishing only when the site publishes eligible news or editorial articles.

5. Migrate safely

If Yoast, Rank Math, AIOSEO, or SEOPress contains existing metadata, run the safe importer. apSEO does not delete source metadata. Keep the existing plugin active until compatibility checks and the readiness audit are clean.

6. Run the readiness audit

The audit verifies public visibility, HTTPS, publisher identity, plugin conflicts, sitemap access, and robots access. Resolve each action item and rerun until the site is ready.

7. Verify public endpoints

• /apseo-sitemap.xml
• /apseo-news-sitemap.xml when news is enabled
• /robots.txt
