Getting started with apImage
Verify server capabilities and optimize a small sample before processing the whole library.
Install and recover your download
- Back up the site and test on a staging copy first.
- Download the current ZIP from your purchase confirmation or My Account.
- Open WordPress → Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin. Upload the ZIP, install, and activate it.
- Open the product’s License screen and activate the purchased key for the retail update and support service.
Check system readiness
- Open apImage and review System readiness and delivery status.
- Confirm that the image functions required for your chosen processing path are available. Local derivative generation requires PHP GD; WebP, AVIF, ImageMagick and optional format support depend on the host.
- Open apImage → Settings. Begin with conservative local processing and keep original files.
- Optimize one test attachment. Compare its dimensions, file size, visual quality, and actual delivery in a signed-out browser.
- Use Laboratory for a repeatable quality comparison. Only compare competitors when you have real output files from those tools.
- After the sample is verified, use the dashboard to queue the library and monitor completion.
Optional services
External delivery and visual AI are optional. Keep origin delivery working before changing a delivery hostname. Do not make DNS or Cloudflare changes merely because the plugin is installed. Check which images and metadata an optional AI endpoint receives.
Acceptance check
- Originals remain available.
- Generated variants render on desktop and mobile without broken images.
- Priority images and below-the-fold images load as expected.
- A missing capability produces a safe fallback rather than an unavailable page.
Updates, rollback, and support
Take a fresh backup before updating and verify the same workflow on staging. If an update causes a problem, restore your previous verified plugin package and database backup as appropriate. Do not uninstall a plugin merely to troubleshoot it; data retention differs by product.
