Getting started with apForms
Build a form, publish it, and verify a real submission before relying on it.
Install and recover your download
- Back up the site and test on a staging copy first.
- Download the current ZIP from your purchase confirmation or My Account.
- Open WordPress → Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin. Upload the ZIP, install, and activate it.
- Open the product’s License screen and activate the purchased key for the retail update and support service.
Create and publish a form
- Open apForms → New Form. Name the form and add the fields you need.
- Set labels, required fields, and any conditional rules. Collect only information you actually need.
- Configure notifications and check the recipient addresses. Your host or mail provider must be able to deliver the messages.
- Save the form and copy its generated shortcode into a WordPress page. Preview it while signed out.
- Submit a clearly labeled test entry. Check apForms → Entries and independently verify notification delivery.
Uploads and optional AI
Before using file uploads, test allowed and rejected file types, size limits, and who can access uploaded files. Never use a public test to send private documents.
Roll Your Own AI is optional. Configure a provider only when you intend to use it; check the destination, credential storage, and data being transmitted. Do not send private form entries to a provider without an appropriate basis and disclosure.
Acceptance check
- Required fields reject missing answers.
- Conditional rules behave correctly on desktop and mobile.
- Entries are stored once and only authorized administrators can view them.
- Notifications arrive, and failed delivery is investigated separately from entry storage.
Updates, rollback, and support
Take a fresh backup before updating and verify the same workflow on staging. If an update causes a problem, restore your previous verified plugin package and database backup as appropriate. Do not uninstall a plugin merely to troubleshoot it; data retention differs by product.
For help, email [email protected] with the product/version, WordPress/PHP versions, site URL, exact steps, error message, and last four license-key characters. Remove credentials and personal data from logs. Never send passwords, API keys, complete license keys, card numbers, or card security codes.
